“Fate”
A brown fox and a white fox walking side by side in the forest, the full moon was shining on them. Both of them stopped nearby the river and looked at the beautiful scenery. The younger one asked his noona about the questions he had over his noona’s decision over and over again.
“Noona… are you really going to do that?”
“For the 187th time in a day Jae, I’m definitely going to do it”
“Why’d you want to be a human anyway… they’re ugly, they don’t have fur… they don’t have a beautiful tail to wag on… they’re slow… they are…”
“Because, that what makes them human… Jae…They use those beautiful dress so they don’t need any fur, a long black hair where hairpins, ribbons and everything pretty to put on… and moreover… their heart-”
“Heart!? Oh! The main plan is to feast on their hearts?? Am I invited?” the younger fox’s eyes were glistening in anticipation.
“Pabo~” the brown fox said after lifting one of her paws to smack the male’s head. “Feeling, I want to know what ‘love’ means… grandma said it was amazing”
“Pfft…” with that, the white fox left his noona, no matter how many times his noona said about the good things of being a human; his head seemed to be too thick to be drilled. As long as he watched those humans, all he could read were ‘dirty tricks’, ‘money’, ‘castes in society’ and many other negative things that made him disgust and despise human being. He really loved to be him, a fox with blue eyes and white fur… with paws and sharp canine teeth…living freely in the woods, hunting and eating without thinking about anything… don’t need any change whatsoever.
“Hungryyyy~~~” Jaejoong growled as he rolled over his stomach on the ground. His noona was already in her meditation since 3 days ago. She didn’t eat, didn’t drink, and didn’t move, just sit there at one of the stone nearby the waterfall. The white fox had been sleeping, moving back and forth in front of his sister since the beginning and this had made him starved to almost death. “Noonaaa~~ I’m starving~” again the younger fox whined, but the female fox didn’t budge. “Noona~~ I’m going to go eat that biiiggg cow that you’ve been eying for God knows how long~ and then, pigs… rabbits… deer… hmm yummy~~” the male fox jutted his tongue out to lick his mouth. All he had done were vain; she didn’t move even a bit, her eyes were closed perfectly. Jaejoong left his noona with an annoyed look.
“Young master, why don’t we hunt tomorrow? It’s already dark” the servant stated. The young master paused at his track and looked back “Are you afraid?”. The fat servant shook his head furiously “Ani~ what if we… got lost?”. The young master thought for a while, and smiled afterward “Stay here, build a tent and a fire. I’ll be back as soon as I can” then he patted his servant’s shoulder and running into the forest. “Young Master Jung!!” the servant tried to chase him, but after few meters he was totally knocked out. Sighing, he decided to go drag his almost limp legs back to the previous place and do just as the young master had said. ‘Build a tent and a fire’. Although he was sure that Young Master Jung Yunho would be just fine hunting in the forest in the night all by himself, but he still prayed that he would be back in the morning without any harm.
The white fox was walking merrily after having some rabbits for his supper. Yes, he didn’t get a bite of the cow since it has been slaughtered; a deer wasn’t even a choice since they live a bit too far from the waterfall so rabbits were his last resort. Just when he was spotting another prey, an arrow flew straight to it and hit right at its heart. ‘Effing hunter’ the white fox stared at the figure. This was another reason of why he despise human, they can raise cows, chickens, pigs, practically almost everything but why in the world they still hunt wild animals? Don’t they know how to share?
Just then he met the hunter’s eyes. ‘Oh shit’ he muttered under his breath before he run as fast as he could. Just as expected, the hunter chased him with all his might. Few arrows flew just mere inches from him, Jaejoong cursed as he fasten his pace. Few minutes more of running he didn’t feel any presence of the hunter, but he was too focused on searching the figure that he didn’t realize that he had stepped onto a trap. The metal was digging into his skin and drawing blood, the white fur was now tainted with red. He winced at the pain, he tried to remove the metal by pawing it but the more he touched it, the more it hurts. He felt like crying now, the hunter is on his way, and here he was, injured-as if offering himself to die. He laid on the ground, looking sadly on his bleeding leg, ‘whatever happen… just happen’ he thought as he closed his eyes.
“White fox?” vaguely he heard a voice. The male fox was too tired to open his eyes, and he believed that this was his end of life. A hand caressed his head softly, then moved to the under of his jaws and he had to admit that he liked it. “You’re hurt…” The voice was soft and caring, but that can’t be… can it? ‘Humans only know how to kill and please themselves…’ Jaejoong commented inside.
“I’m going to pull it off, it will be stinging a bit please hold on, ne?” the voice said. This time Jaejoong looked up and saw a human, with a small face and a bit too sharp eyes. He felt a sharp pain at his leg when the guy touched the trap and found the urge to bit at something, so he shoved his own paw into his mouth and bit it. Seriously, if foxes can scream, he would do it. The pain sent him writhing and looked so miserable, even after the trap had been successfully removed, he couldn’t feel his leg. The only thing that could lessen his pain was the big hand which caressing him from head to his back ever so gently that made him purred. “Maybe I should bring you home…” the guy whispered and Jaejoong’s eyes shot up. ‘Oh shit, he’s no different with other human!’ Jaejoong mentally slapped himself and tried to get up on four. “Oh, oh, don’t wake up!” the guy said as he clutched his hands below his (Jaejoong’s) jaw. Jaejoong kept on trying to stand up eventhough he knew his wound was bleeding continuously.
After he was able to stand, he lifted his injured leg and was trying to walk when suddenly another man appeared in front of them, taller than the previous one; with arrows and a bow in his hand, he assumed that this guy was the one who tried to kill him. Yunho sneakily put something like a tassel to the fox’s neck. At first he was trying to pry the hand off but the human held his neck firmly, muttering his apology and put it on him “Stay, okay?” and Jaejoong stayed, not because of he was going to comply all his command but he just wanted to do so.
“Jung Yunho that’s mine” the new guy stated. ‘Ah, so his name is Jung Yunho…’ Jaejoong made sure of himself to thank this Jung Yunho when he got better, in any possible way.
“Eh? Sorry?”
“That white fox. It’s mine. Give it back to me”
“Says who?”
“Me”
“Dare to oppose me now, Shim Changmin?”
“You are nothing than ‘a same hunter’ like me in this forest, so that…”
“This fox is my pet”
“EXCUSE ME??”
“Look, he wears the Jung tassel on his neck. It means, he is my pet, which means… you hurt my pet. And when we get back to town, I’m gonna sue you for attacking him” Yunho throw a hard look on Changmin
“As if that kind of rule exists” the taller man retorted.
“Oh, it is… if I just file it to the council and…”
“I got it. Screw you” the taller man mumbled something like strings of profanities which Jaejoong chose to ignore. Yunho turned his back to face the white fox again then squatted down. “Let me take you to my home… hmm? If I let you go… that brat would definitely hunt you down, I don’t want a beautiful creature like you to die on his hand” Yunho stared at the fox’s eyes and mesmerized by them. They were so blue, and deep as if sucking his soul out of his body and drowning himself in a world of blue, In addition, the moonlight made the white fur shining and made him looked ethereal… he definitely captivated by the grace of the fox. “So beautiful…” Yunho whispered as he stroked the fox’s head. Jaejoong closed his eyes in delight and purred, his hand was warm, nothing he ever felt like this before.
When the strokes stopped, Jaejoong opened his eyes to find the human took off his outer outfit and wrapped him ever so carefully so he won’t touch his wound. He lifted him up in his arms and smiled “I’ll heal you… and when you’re healthy again I’m gonna return you here… where you belong…meanwhile, let’s go home :) ”
“Noona… are you really going to do that?”
